Our Story

Over 60 years of accommodation

Giellajohka’s property is one of the oldest places to hold accommodation in our area. The first owners started the business as a cafeteria for local road workers in the 1960s and after that the place has evolved amongst the years to be.

During the second world war this area was a military camp held by German soldiers. You can still find a lot of war time junk from the forests around us, which is both interesting and very sad.

Nowadays Giellajohka is a small family business, owned by Big Mama Anita and her children Jouni and Anni.

We, the current owners, have been here in Giellajohka since 2016. Our aim has been to develop the place to be the best possible home in the middle of wilderness.

For every single soul passing by.
